Frightfully Fun Night

Homecoming will be even more extravagant than all previous dances. The event being set on October 13 and 14 makes the occasion themed around Halloween spirit. Get ready to Trick or Treat and celebrate the holiday, so to take in account everyone’s Mercersburg traditions, the Homecoming theme: Fright Night.

Spirit week days are October 11-13! Wednesday the 11th is Glow In The Dark. Thursday the 12th is Spooky Night. Last but certainly not least Friday the 13th is Freaky Friday! Make sure you wear your best attire!

  • Wednesday Wear – Neon/Glow in the dark
  • Thursday Wear – Pajamas
  • Friday Wear – James Buchanan Spirit wear

The runners for Homecoming King and Queen are Ty Grove and Morgan Iverson, Chuck Norris and Amber Ebersole, Ciara Rauch and Sawyer Strine, Brayton Atherton and Natalie Monninger, and Jacob Frey and Lindsay Plessinger.

“I’m super excited to be running and I can’t wait to spend time with my friends and dance,” Grove said.

The senior candidates have encouraged voting by handing out sweet treats and incentives, also showing their morals and values to persuade students to vote in their favor.

“I believe someone is a good candidate when they are kind, enjoyable to be around, and actually interested in running with their candidate partner. It wouldn’t persuade me to vote for someone if they aren’t kind or are just trying to make a joke of it when there are other people who actually strive to be King and Queen,” Iverson said.

Other students joined for a plethora of reasons, but Strine wanted to represent and include variety for everyone in the community. “I wanted to run to give some diversity to the court and show people that no matter who you are, you can always do whatever you want,” Strine said.
