Sophomore class officers, Ainsley Green, Lilly Garbinski, Avery Brindle, Lainey McCulloh, and Jayden Rineer.

After two weeks of campaigning, the sophomore class finally picked their class officers. Officers for the class of 2026 were announced, Ainsley Green as president, Lilly Garbinski as vice president, Avery Brindle as secretary, Jayden Rineer as treasurer, and Lainey McCulloh as historian.

It took hundreds of homemade contributions by each candidate in order to get voted in. Green and Garbinski handed out cookies and candy to every sophomore student to encourage them to vote for their team. “We hung up a ton of interactive posters and we passed out a lot of food,” Green said.

Opponents against Green and Garbinski, Kimber Yeager and Brody Crone, did not win positions for president and vice president, but they tried their best to receive classmates’ votes. They handed out Jolly Ranchers and Lollipops as well as made many posters and put them throughout the school.

All candidates took time and dedication to get votes from their classmates. “We campaigned so much because we like to be extra and we’re very competitive,” Garbinski said.

Although they have not done much as class officers so far, the new team ready themselves to be challenged and have prepared to put in the hard work for their class. “I’m really prepared and I’m really excited. And the famous words of somebody, ‘Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard’,” Green said.

Their first task will be to help with the sophomore class fundraiser, organizing and sorting through student orders. This may be a small first task, but they have planned out big opportunities for the class in the future. “I want to try and make my class have the best high school experience possible, so in the future, I plan to be really involved and into helping my class,” McCulloh said.

Lainey McCulloh, Staff Writer
Written by Nikki Pence Hello everybody!! Lainey is a thriving sophomore here at JB, and cannot wait to participate in the creation of your yearbook. Not only is Lainey interested in Journalism, but she has always found art club and student council to be enjoyable extracurriculars as well. Outside of school Lainey enjoys baking, drawing, and doing anything where she can show her creativity. She will typically be found on the sideline, either snapping pictures or cheering on her friends and family. Although this is Lainey’s first year of Journalism, luckily she has some background knowledge on taking pictures and photoshop. “I have always liked using photoshop and making things on different apps,” McCulloh said. Even though Lainey is comfortable with her writing abilities, she is particularly thrilled for the camera/tech portion of Journalism. “I think I will probably like the tech/camera portion, because I like taking pictures,” McCulloh shared. Lainey is particularly proud of her academic accomplishments, as she finished third or fourth in her class last year! A little hesitant at first, McCulloh is thrilled that she decided to join Journalism this year, and is super excited to show the rest of the staff everything that she has to offer.
