Former PSU Player Seeks to Restrict Evidence in Upcoming Locker Room Harassment Trial

WILLIAMSPORT, PA — A former Penn State football player, Damion Barber, has filed a legal motion to limit the evidence that can be introduced in an upcoming federal civil trial involving allegations of sexual harassment in the university’s football locker room.

The request was submitted on Friday to the U.S. Middle District Court. Barber, now the only defendant remaining in the case, argues that certain pieces of evidence should be excluded when jury selection begins on June 2.

The lawsuit was originally filed in 2020 by Isaiah Humphries, a former standout high school football player from Texas. Humphries accused Penn State, head coach James Franklin, and Barber of failing to prevent and address repeated instances of harassment that allegedly occurred in the locker room during the 2018 season.

Although Penn State and Franklin were previously named in the suit, Barber remains the sole defendant facing trial.

The outcome of the trial could have significant implications for how college athletic programs handle internal allegations of misconduct.
