PENNSYLVANIA — UPS has announced the closure of three major shipping centers in Pennsylvania, marking a significant shift in the company’s nationwide strategy for modernization. The affected facilities are located in Harrisburg, New Kensington, and Stroudsburg. These closures are part of UPS’s larger effort to restructure and optimize its operations.
The three shipping centers set to close are:
- 1821 South 19th Street in Harrisburg
- 2006 River Road in New Kensington
- 2129 Rockdale Lane in Stroudsburg
The closures are part of UPS’s sweeping “network of the future” initiative, which focuses on modernizing logistics and distribution operations. The company is investing heavily in increasing automation and improving operational efficiency.
As part of this restructuring, UPS is also planning to cut approximately 20,000 jobs by the end of 2025. This reduction is aimed at streamlining the company’s national distribution network, with an emphasis on long-term capacity, technological upgrades, and enhanced delivery performance.
This move is expected to reshape UPS’s operations, allowing the company to better meet the demands of modern e-commerce while improving its overall delivery services.
