A Chambersburg woman, Brittney Rashea Statler, is facing multiple felony charges after a series of retail thefts and an alleged attempt to smuggle contraband into the Franklin County Jail. Statler, 29, has been arraigned on five felony counts of retail theft, all tied to incidents at a local Target store, and additional charges related to contraband possession.
The Retail Theft Incidents
Statler’s thefts span several months, starting on January 28, 2025. On that date, she allegedly entered Target, gathered clothing items, and left with $236 worth of merchandise after dropping a basket in the store. Subsequent incidents include thefts on February 2, 2025, and April 27, 2025. On February 2, Statler reportedly stole a $199.99 video game controller, and on April 27, she allegedly took multiple clothing items.
Statler’s thefts continued into March. On March 5, she allegedly stole four Xbox controllers, valued at $142.96, after entering the fitting room with them and leaving without paying. The following day, she allegedly stole another Xbox controller worth $199.99 along with two t-shirts, using the same method. On March 15, Statler took items from the ULTA beauty section of Target, valued at $214.99, once again resorting to dropping items at the front of the store and leaving with stolen goods.
Additional Charges and Attempts
In addition to the initial thefts, Statler faces charges for attempted retail theft on May 1, 2025. Pennsylvania State Police allege that she attempted to steal various beverages and hygiene products from a Dollar General store in Greene Township. Statler was stopped by the store manager but fled the scene in a vehicle.
Smuggling Contraband into the Jail
After being arrested and taken to the Franklin County Jail, Statler was reportedly searched by corrections officers. Authorities discovered a crack cocaine pipe, a pen, and a lighter hidden in her possession. Statler allegedly admitted the pipe was used for crack cocaine.
With a combined bail set at $75,001, Statler remains behind bars at the Franklin County Jail as she awaits further legal proceedings.
