Boy Accidentally Orders 70,000 Dum-Dum Lollipops on Mom’s Phone

A Kentucky mother was left stunned when her young son, playing on her phone over the weekend, unknowingly placed a massive order for 70,000 Dum-Dum lollipops—an unexpected $4,200 purchase.

Holly LaFavers from Lexington shared the surprising story on social media after discovering that 30 large boxes of Dum-Dum lollipops had arrived at her doorstep. Each box contained 2,340 lollipops, totaling a whopping 70,200 pieces of candy.

The culprit? Her second-grade son, Liam, who admitted to making the order while he was simply playing with her phone. With each case priced at $130, the accidental purchase added up quickly to a total of $4,200.

Initially, Amazon allowed LaFavers to return eight of the 30 cases, so she began reaching out to friends and neighbors to sell the remaining lollipops. However, after a day of dealing with her bank and speaking to several news outlets, Amazon reached out to her and decided to refund the entire purchase.

LaFavers thanked those who offered to help buy the candy, adding, “I’ll be happy to send you your ‘order’ or donate them to a charity of your choice.”
