As Big Lots closes hundreds of stores following its bankruptcy filing, many of its former retail spaces are finding new life. Among the major retailers stepping in is Ocean State Job Lot, the Rhode Island-based discount chain known for its unbeatable “crazy deals.”
Ocean State Job Lot has acquired the leases for 15 former Big Lots locations across the Northeast, including two right here in Pennsylvania. The new Pennsylvania stores will be located at:
- Dauphin Plaza, 3850 Union Deposit Road, Susquehanna Township (Harrisburg area)
- 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County (near Trexlertown)
These two stores are part of a broader expansion that includes locations in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont. According to bankruptcy filings, the lease at the Union Deposit Road location runs through January 31, 2029, with an option for extension.
Ocean State Job Lot, which operates over 150 stores throughout the Northeast, is well known for offering deep discounts on a wide range of products, including home goods, clothing, pet supplies, kitchen essentials, seasonal items, and specialty gourmet foods. The company also rewards regular shoppers through its Insider Club loyalty program.
Each new store is expected to bring up to 70 jobs to the local community. Former Big Lots employees will be given the opportunity to apply for positions at the new locations.
Founded in 1977, Ocean State Job Lot continues to grow by bringing value and variety to shoppers across the region—and these two new Pennsylvania locations are no exception.
