Rock musician Dave Edmunds’ wife, Cici Edmunds, has provided a positive update on her husband’s health following his recent cardiac arrest.
In a post shared on August 5, Cici expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support and confirmed that Dave is recovering and expected to make a full recovery.
A Miraculous Recovery
Cici Edmunds, who has been married to Dave for 40 years, reposted a message from Carlene Carter, the daughter of June Carter Cash and Carl Smith, on Facebook. The post highlighted the good news of Dave’s recovery, and Cici added a heartfelt note of thanks.
“Bless you sweet beautiful Carlene for sharing the positive news regarding my amazing husband’s miraculous recovery. Sending you much love and light your way always,” Cici wrote. She continued, “Dave is expected to make a full recovery and be out of the hospital soon!”
Carter’s post also shared a throwback photo of herself performing with Dave, reflecting on their history together, and adding, “Some really great news we all have been waiting for…”
The Cardiac Arrest Incident
Dave Edmunds, 81, experienced a major cardiac arrest in late July. Cici shared the shocking details of the incident, explaining that Dave “died in my arms” before a nurse revived him with “heavy CPR.” Dave was quickly taken to an intensive care unit and intubated.
While Cici acknowledged the terrifying situation, she also described the emotional toll it had on her, revealing that she believed she had developed PTSD from the experience.
At the time of the incident, Cici mentioned that Dave was suffering from brain damage and severe memory loss, making his recovery process more challenging. Despite the difficult road ahead, Cici remained hopeful, stating that knowing kind-hearted people were supporting them made the journey easier.
Dave Edmunds’ Health Condition
According to Mayo Clinic, a sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating due to an irregular rhythm. This condition can cause brain damage and, in some cases, death. While Dave’s recovery is expected to be long, the hopeful news is a welcome relief for his family, friends, and fans.
A Legendary Career
Dave Edmunds, born on April 15, 1944, in Cardiff, Wales, is best known for his work in the rock music scene. He first gained fame as a member of the blues rock band Love Sculpture in the 1960s, which released two albums before disbanding in 1970.
His solo career took off in the early 1970s with the release of his debut album Rockpile. One of the highlights of his solo career was his hit cover of Dave Bartholomew’s “I Hear You Knocking,” which spent six weeks at No. 1 in the U.K.
Dave later formed the band Rockpile with Nick Lowe, Billy Bremner, and Terry Williams, releasing the 1980 album Seconds of Pleasure, which featured the popular single “Teacher, Teacher.” In more recent years, he released instrumental albums like On Guitar Dave Edmunds: Rags & Classics in 2015.
Although his friend and collaborator Brian Setzer claimed in 2017 that Dave had retired, his fans continue to celebrate his legendary music career.
Despite facing a life-threatening health scare, Dave Edmunds is now on the road to recovery. His wife Cici remains hopeful for his full recovery and is grateful for the support of fans and friends.
Dave’s remarkable music legacy and his resilience through this difficult time are inspiring, and we all look forward to seeing him back on his feet soon.
