Tennis legend Venus Williams is opening up about beauty, aging, and her evolving approach to health and self-care.
In a recent interview with Marie Claire UK for their fifth annual “Women in Sport” special, the 45-year-old icon revealed her thoughts on cosmetic procedures, body confidence, and how she’s still smashing expectations—on and off the court.
Open to Cosmetic Interventions—But Only If It Feels Right
Venus Williams has long been admired for her strength, confidence, and authenticity. When asked whether she’d ever consider cosmetic interventions, the seven-time Grand Slam champion didn’t shy away from the topic.
“If I felt like I wanted to feel better about myself, and that’s what made me feel better, I would totally do it,” she shared.
While she currently feels content in her own skin and prefers to maintain her natural look, she made it clear that she fully supports anyone who chooses to go that route for themselves.
“So many people are judging other people,” Venus said. “But if it makes somebody feel good, that’s all that matters.”
The Future of Skincare and Aging
As someone who’s always been focused on health and wellness, Venus is optimistic about what lies ahead in the world of skincare and aging solutions.
“There’s going to be so many amazing things that happen for skincare and aging [in the] next 20 years,” she said. “I’m excited to be a part of it.”
She even joked about the next chapter in her own journey, adding with a laugh, “I’m so excited for what’s gonna happen with me and my hip replacement.”
Reflecting on Aging as an Athlete
Even as she reflects on cosmetic interventions, Venus knows firsthand how the body changes with time—especially for athletes. She admitted that aging is something she thinks about often.
“I feel young [for] my age, physically,” she said. “But my knees have always been aged 80 since I was a kid. They’ve never been on my side. I’ve had to drag them along with me.”
Despite the challenges, Venus continues to defy expectations, proving that age is just a number when it comes to her commitment, strength, and love for the game.
A Triumphant Return to Tennis
After a 16-month break due to injury and fibroids surgery, Venus made a stunning return on July 21 at the 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open, teaming up with Hailey Baptiste in the doubles draw. It was her first win since August 2023 and her first match since the 2024 Miami Open.
That victory also made her the oldest woman to win a singles match on tour since Martina Navratilova in 2004—a milestone she met with humility and pride.
“I’m just here for now, and who knows?” Venus told reporters after the match. “Maybe there’s more. I haven’t played in a year. There is no doubt I can play tennis. I’m still the same player. I’m a big hitter. I hit big. This is my brand.”
Venus on Her Own Terms
Whether it’s returning to competition after surgery, laughing about hip replacements, or supporting personal choices about cosmetic procedures, Venus continues to live life on her own terms. She’s a powerful example of how embracing both strength and vulnerability can empower others to do the same.
Venus Williams’ recent reflections on beauty, self-confidence, aging, and tennis show that she’s not only a legend in sport, but also a voice of balance and empowerment in today’s image-obsessed world.
While she currently prefers her natural look, she’s open to cosmetic procedures if it means feeling better about herself. And for anyone else considering it, her message is simple and powerful: “If it makes you feel good, that’s all that matters.”
