Isaac Ordonez’s Shocking Growth Spurt Leaves Jenna Ortega Behind in Wednesday Season 2

Isaac Ordonez, who plays Pugsley Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday, has undergone quite the growth spurt between the show’s first and second seasons, leaving him towering over his onscreen sister, Jenna Ortega.

“I was the same height as Jenna in season one. I’ve grown quite a lot,” the 16-year-old actor shared with a laugh while attending the premiere for part one of Wednesday‘s second season at Central Hall Westminster in London.

He added that now, he is “hovering” over Ortega, who is 22, and playfully referred to their height difference as “amazing.”

Isaac’s Growing Role in Wednesday Season 2

In Wednesday, Ordonez portrays Pugsley Addams, who was more of a background character in the first season. However, with the release of season two, fans will see a lot more of him. In season one, Pugsley did not attend Nevermore Academy with his sister, but this time, he’s a student at the school.

“I was definitely surprised to see how much more I was in it,” Ordonez revealed. “Like, a big promotion.” He teased that fans can expect a lot of excitement from Pugsley in season two. “He’s got powers… he makes a lot of friends, and also [makes] connections with some not-so-good people. I will say that,” Ordonez hinted.

Pugsley’s character is set to have a more energetic and mischievous side this season, expanding beyond the emotional side viewers saw in the first season. “It was great to really play around with this character,” Ordonez said. “Now I have more free-range, and room to really grow.”

Working with Jenna Ortega

Ordonez also raved about working with Jenna Ortega, who plays Wednesday Addams. He praised her as “wonderful” and shared that working closely with her allowed him to learn a lot. “Watching her through the monitor, like, you really start to pick up things,” he noted.

While Pugsley didn’t follow Wednesday to school in the first season, the shift in his character’s role means a lot more screen time with his onscreen family, including Ortega’s Wednesday and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia Addams.

Catherine Zeta-Jones on Playing Morticia Addams

Zeta-Jones, who plays Pugsley’s mother, Morticia, also shared her thoughts on playing the iconic character at the premiere. The actress emphasized the importance of making Morticia feel “real and grounded.”

She also reflected on the dynamic between Morticia and Wednesday, noting, “I certainly identify with being a mother. I never had the struggle with my daughter that I have with Wednesday, thankfully, but I’ve certainly seen mothers have that.”

What’s Next for Wednesday?

The second season of Wednesday is set to explore more intense developments for the goth character. After taking down villainous Laurel Gates in season one, Wednesday now faces a terrifying new challenge: a vision of her best friend, Enid Sinclair (Emma Meyers), dying.

As the season unfolds, Wednesday must grapple with her newfound responsibilities as Nevermore’s “savior,” while also navigating her gift of seeing the future.

The first four episodes of Wednesday season 2 will premiere on Netflix on August 6, with the next four episodes following on September 3.
