A Wisconsin woman, Jamie Anderson, has been charged with attempted intentional homicide after allegedly walking 16 miles to her father’s house and stabbing him in a violent, hallucination-driven attack.
Anderson, 34, is facing serious charges after an incident on July 1 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, that left her father severely injured.
The Attack and Its Unfolding
According to the Stoughton Police Department, Anderson walked from her apartment in Madison to her father’s home in the early morning hours of July 1, a journey of roughly 16 miles. Upon arriving, she rang the doorbell.
When her father opened the door, Anderson allegedly asked for a hug, explaining she wanted to stop hallucinating. Her father, concerned, asked if she was on drugs, which led to a violent confrontation.
The criminal complaint states that Anderson, in a state of hallucination, then tried to stab her father in the head multiple times. Some of the stabbing attempts drew blood, and Anderson reportedly repeated the phrase, “I’m going to kill you.”
The two fought inside the house, with her father telling officers that he had to push her over a coffee table to escape to safety.
A Father’s Account and Police Intervention
When officers arrived at around 6 a.m., they found Anderson’s father on the front stoop, bleeding from his left arm. He explained to the police, “She actually came here to kill me.” After describing the attack, he told officers that Anderson was still inside the house.
Police soon found Anderson walking down a stairway with a knife in hand. She complied with orders to drop the knife and was arrested without further incident.
During questioning, Anderson allegedly admitted to hallucinating and believing her father was the devil. She further confessed to slashing him several times, stating that her intention was to kill him because she wanted him dead.
The Father’s Condition and Anderson’s Court Appearance
The father suffered serious injuries, including staples in his head and surgery on his arm. Despite the brutal attack, he told police that the incident was not representative of his daughter, blaming her actions on drug use and mental health struggles.
Anderson was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon, with an added domestic abuse assessment. She appeared in court on July 25, where her bond was set at $500,000. A no-contact order was also issued regarding her father, in case she posts bail.
Anderson is currently being held at the Dane County Jail, and her next court appearance is scheduled for August 5.
The Aftermath and Legal Consequences
This disturbing incident has brought attention to the dangers of drug-induced hallucinations and mental health issues, as Anderson’s father noted that his daughter’s mind was “cooked” from drug use.
As Anderson awaits her next court appearance, the case will likely involve questions about her mental state and whether she was under the influence at the time of the attack.
