Michelle Obama Reveals Her Favorite Bravo Shows: 'I Watch It All'

Michelle Obama isn’t just passionate about politics and inspiring change; she also loves to unwind by watching some good reality TV.

In a recent episode of the IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson podcast, the former first lady opened up about her love for Bravo shows, especially the drama-filled reality TV series like The Real Housewives.

During her chat with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers from Las Culturistas, Obama explained that while her family might poke fun at her, she’s a big fan of these shows. She shared that culture is king for her and that she loves to educate her brother Craig Robinson and her husband Barack Obama about it.

Michelle’s Reality TV Obsession

When it comes to Bravo, Michelle Obama doesn’t hold back. She revealed, “I watch it all — all of it,” including The Real Housewives series, which she admitted is one of her favorite types of reality television. Michelle is particularly interested in the latest addition to the Bravo family, Next Gen NYC, which follows the children of Bravo stars.

She shared, “I watched the first two episodes, and I’m just like, ‘Oh, they’re starting the babies off early,’” referring to the next generation of reality stars in New York. The show introduces viewers to the children of well-known Bravo figures, as well as new faces trying to make it in the reality TV world.

Comparing Reality TV to Sports

What Michelle Obama finds fascinating about reality TV is the drama. She likened it to the drama in sports, explaining that there are many similarities between reality TV and shows like ESPN. “There’s drama in sports. If I listen to ESPN for an hour, it’s like watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” she said.

She continued, “It’s the same drama, and they’re yelling at each other, and they don’t get along.” Obama emphasized that this type of sociological drama is not just limited to reality TV—it’s also something she sees in the world of sports.

“The fact that people over seasons of working together still can’t get along… they still have the same arguments,” she added.

Fascination with Real-Life Drama

What really draws Michelle to reality TV is how people can’t seem to stay away from each other, even when their relationships are full of tension. “Why do you keep going to dinner together?

It never ends well. And don’t ever vacation with her, ever again, ever,” she laughed. These small moments of drama, she said, are what make reality TV so interesting to watch.

Michelle’s love for these shows is a reminder that even powerful, inspiring figures like her enjoy a bit of entertainment that provides a peek into the drama of everyday life.
