Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) is sharing some sweet and funny stories about how he chose the names for his daughters, Saga and Casie.
The 35-year-old singer recently answered questions in Today’s 8 Before 8, where he revealed the story behind his daughters’ names and even shared the one name idea that got rejected.
MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, has two daughters: Saga, who is just 4 months old, and Casie, who is 16. While MGK shares Saga with his fiancé, Megan Fox, his older daughter, Casie, was born from his relationship with ex Emma Cannon.
Who Chose the Names?
When asked about who picked the names for his daughters, MGK revealed some amusing details. He explained that he didn’t have a say in naming his older daughter, Casie. However, he did get to choose the name for Saga, his youngest daughter.
He shared, “Well, I lost the first one and won the second one.” When talking about his first experience of naming a child, MGK recalled suggesting a rather unusual name for his firstborn: “When you are 18 years old and you go to her mother and you go ‘What if we named our kid, Kid?’ It’s like, I get why she’s like ‘Hey man, shut up.’”
Clearly, MGK’s suggestion didn’t go over well with Casie’s mother, but he was able to choose a name he liked for his second daughter, Saga.
MGK on Fatherhood
MGK and Megan Fox welcomed their baby girl, Saga, on March 27, 2025, and the rapper couldn’t be happier. While walking the red carpet at the 2025 American Music Awards, MGK gushed about life as a new father, saying, “I’m just so elated. It’s just awesome.”
One thing that MGK particularly loves about being a father again is how newborns smell. He said, “They smell so good” while mimicking the act of cradling a baby. He added, “I was just meant to be a dad.”
Casie’s Sweet 16
MGK also shared a heartwarming moment with his daughter Casie on her sweet 16. On Instagram Stories, he posted a video of the two of them celebrating her special day. In the clip, MGK wore a white cowboy hat, while Casie sported a pink sparkly cowboy hat.
She also wore a sash that said “Birthday girl”, and the two of them danced around to Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” while playing with a toy horse.
A Rare Appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards
In June 2025, MGK and Casie made a rare appearance together at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. This marked a special moment for the father-daughter duo, as they walked the orange carpet ahead of the event. Talking to PEOPLE before the show, Casie shared how her dad is a big support to her.
“He definitely gives a lot of advice. He’s more like a hype man, though,” she said, adding that he always encourages her to be herself.
MGK responded with a smile, saying, “Yeah, I’m a cheerleader.” It’s clear that MGK plays an important role in Casie’s life, offering both guidance and lots of support.
