Cynthia Nixon is saying a bittersweet goodbye to the cast and crew of And Just Like That… as the series nears its end. On August 1, after showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed that the show will end with season 3, Nixon, 59, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram about her time on the HBO Max revival of Sex and the City.
“I can’t believe our wild, beautiful And Just Like That ride is almost over,” Nixon began her post. “It has been such a delight from start to finish.”
A Heartfelt Goodbye from Nixon
In her message, Nixon expressed how much she would miss working with the talented cast and crew. “I will miss working with these people every day SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other’s lives,” she wrote, clearly touched by the long-running relationships built over the years.
She also teased fans, saying, “Get ready for a lot more carousels in the weeks to come! And don’t miss these last few episodes: surprises in store! 🫢”
Nixon shared a carousel of photos and videos celebrating her role as Miranda Hobbes, from her first appearance in Sex and the City to her return in And Just Like That… and its accompanying films.
The post also featured images of core castmates Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis, as well as other actors who played key roles in the series, including Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, and the late Willie Garson, who played Carrie’s dear friend Stanford Blatch.
Honoring Fellow Castmates and On-Screen Family
In her post, Nixon also paid tribute to her on-screen partners, including David Eigenberg (who played Steve) and Sara Ramirez (who played Che Diaz).
She also shared photos showcasing the evolution of her character, including moments with her on-screen son Brady Hobbes (played by Joseph Pupo and Niall Cunningham) from his infancy to adolescence.
Nixon further showed her support for Sarah Jessica Parker by sharing Parker’s emotional farewell post on her Instagram Stories, writing, “I could watch this again and again 🥲.” She added, “Thank you @sarahjessicaparker (& our gorgeous cast & crew!) for the quarter-century of memories and friendships ❤️.”

Sarah Jessica Parker, who starred as Carrie Bradshaw, reflected on the past 27 years in her own heartfelt post. She wrote, “She broke hearts, heels, habits. She loved, lost, won, tripped, leaped, fell short and into puddles. Aged, got wiser.”
Parker continued, describing Carrie’s journey through various relationships, romantic ups and downs, and her deep connection to New York City.
Parker also took a moment to honor her three best friends on-screen, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte, saying, “There will never be better friends.”
Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte York, commented on Parker’s post, saying, “Beautiful 😭😭😭😭😭😭.”
A Difficult Goodbye for Davis
Davis also shared her sadness about the end of the show. “I am profoundly sad,” she wrote, sharing King’s announcement on her Instagram. She continued, “I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever. ❤️”
Michael Patrick King’s Decision to End the Show
In his statement, Michael Patrick King explained that the decision to end And Just Like That… came to him while working on the season 3 finale. He said, “It became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.”
He went on to mention that the finale would be a two-part special, extending the season order from 10 to 12 episodes. King and Parker chose to hold off on announcing the end until now to let the fun of watching the season unfold before the “final” announcement.
