Sophie Cunningham Jokes About Faking Sickness to Party with Summer House Cast

WNBA star Sophie Cunningham is mixing basketball with Bravo-style fun — at least in spirit. The 28-year-old Indiana Fever guard recently joked that she might “fake being sick” during the season just to sneak away and party with the cast of Summer House in the Hamptons.

Sophie’s Big Bravo Obsession — and Her New Podcast

In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE, Cunningham shared that she’s teaming up with Summer House star West Wilson for a new podcast called Show Me Something. The two friends, who grew up together in Columbia, Missouri, say the podcast will cover sports, Bravo shows, fashion, food, travel, and more.

“We’re lighthearted, and sometimes our love language is, like, s— talking,” Cunningham said, explaining that fans will finally get to see their true personalities.

Can Sophie Really Join Summer House?

Though filming overlaps with the WNBA season, Sophie admits she’s very tempted to make an appearance. “I haven’t been [to the house] because it’s during our season,” she said. “But we’ve said this so many times — I think I’m gonna fake being sick or something and just show up there.”

West, 30, teased her further by joking, “If she has an upper body injury…” before Sophie cut him off with, “Oh my god, West!”

Sophie’s love for Summer House has rubbed off on her teammates too. “I’ve been addicted, and I have my teammates on it. I have everyone watching it because of West,” she said.

From WNBA Court to Podcast Mic

Sophie was drafted 13th overall in 2019 and has since become a favorite in the league. West has cheered her on at three games (though not yet in Indiana), and says he’s not surprised she’s become so popular. “She’s been balling since eighth grade,” he said.

The two even have a funny high school memory. Sophie once filled in as a kicker during a boys’ football game — on homecoming night! “Our kicker blew out his knee and I played for like a game and a half,” she explained. The twist? She showed up at the homecoming dance in full football gear while her date was dressed in a tux.

What to Expect from Show Me Something

Their new podcast promises a mix of sports and pop culture, with both hosts sharing their takes on everything from Bravo drama to WNBA highlights. “We really do talk about anything,” Cunningham said. Topics will range from serious sports talk to fun chats about fashion and travel.

“It’ll be cool that people can see our humor, what we’re actually like, and it’s coming from us — not from what other people think we are,” she added.

Sophie Cunningham might be a serious athlete on the court, but off the court, she’s full of fun, sass, and Bravo obsession. With her close bond with Summer House’s West Wilson and their new podcast Show Me Something, fans can expect entertaining stories, sports insight, and lots of laughs.

And who knows? Maybe one day she’ll actually fake that sick day and show up at the Hamptons house.
