Conner Floyd, who has played Chance Chancellor on The Young and the Restless, is saying goodbye to Genoa City after a surprising and emotional exit.
On the July 28 episode of the soap opera, Floyd’s character was shot and killed, marking a dramatic end to his four-year journey on the show.
As he prepares for his new role on Days of Our Lives, Floyd shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing his gratitude for his time on The Young and the Restless.
Floyd’s Emotional Goodbye
After his character Chance was tragically killed, Floyd took to Instagram to share his feelings about his time on the show. In a post featuring behind-the-scenes moments set to the Beastie Boys song “B-Boys Makin’ With The Freak Freak,” he wrote:
“It’s been real GC. What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hardworking actors, creatives, and crew members.”
He also thanked the fans, saying, “I’m grateful to have been a part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and has such a stellar, die-hard fan base. Thank you for accepting me.”
Floyd also spoke fondly of his character, Chance, saying, “Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly. It’s been an absolute honor to represent the Chancellor legacy. Detective Chancellor, over and out.”
Chance’s Death: A Heroic Farewell
Chance’s death came after a heroic act while visiting Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) estate in France to escape a murder plot. When the killer was revealed, Chance stepped in to save Cane’s wife, Lily (Christel Khalil), but tragically got shot in the process.
Reflecting on his character’s death, Floyd shared with TV Insider, “As sad as it is, I think that’s how Chance would want to go out. That’s his story—that he’s a hero. He always put everyone else before himself, so it felt poetic in a way.”
He also recalled his final filming moments, saying, “We had this last scene, and everyone was clapping, and I was saying goodbye to everyone and walking out. I cried like a baby. But there are good things on the horizon.”
Floyd Moves to Days of Our Lives
In June, it was announced that Floyd will be joining Days of Our Lives as Chad DiMera, taking over the role after Billy Flynn’s departure. Floyd began filming for Days of Our Lives on June 23, and his first episode is set to air on April 21, 2026.
Floyd shared his excitement about joining Days of Our Lives, saying, “Everyone’s awesome and very welcoming. I’ve hit the ground running, and it’s been going great so far.”
