A man was arrested on Sunday for attempting to shoot a father who was picking up his children from a home where the suspect’s friend lived with the children’s mother.
The incident, which took place on April 23rd in South Memphis, escalated when Shakir Moss, 24, allegedly threatened to kill the father and opened fire after a heated argument.
Moss has been charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the incident, according to court documents. Police say that the confrontation began when the victim arrived at the home on West Ball Road to pick up his children.
The children’s mother lived there with Moss’ friend, who allegedly challenged the father to a fistfight after an argument broke out.
When the father agreed to the fight, Moss’ friend reportedly called in two men from a neighboring house, including Moss. Once Moss arrived, police say he pulled out a gun and threatened the victim’s life, saying, “I got a couple bodies under my name. I will kill you.”
The father, fearing for his safety, quickly placed his children in their car and attempted to leave. However, Moss reportedly opened fire, striking the vehicle at least once. Thankfully, no one was injured in the shooting.
Court records show that Moss has a history of legal issues, with at least five active or open cases as of Monday. He remains in custody on a $2,025,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
