Selena Gomez is keeping it casual, personal, and a little unexpected when it comes to her future wedding to Benny Blanco. In a new interview shared by her beauty brand, Rare Beauty, on July 25, the 33-year-old singer gave fans a fun peek into her wedding food preferences — and one thing’s clear: she’s skipping the big cake!
Instead of a fancy dessert table, Selena wants something small and meaningful for just her and Benny. And her idea of the perfect “dessert” may surprise you.
No Big Cake — Just a Mini One for Two
Talking about her wedding food dreams, Selena said she doesn’t want a traditional large wedding cake. Instead, she’d prefer a tiny one, just for her and Benny. “I think I’d want a mini one for just us that we can freeze,” she said, referring to the tradition of saving wedding cake for later.
But the real surprise? She doesn’t even want cake as her main dessert.
Selena’s Sweet Treat Is Biscuits and Gravy!
Yes, you read that right — Selena’s version of dessert isn’t something sugary. It’s her Nana’s biscuits and gravy. “That sounds like dessert to me,” she laughed. This comfort food favourite holds a special place in her heart and shows how much she values family traditions over fancy dishes.
This unique wedding wish just proves how down-to-earth Selena is, even when planning something as big as a wedding.
Wedding Plans on Hold — But the Excitement Is Real
Selena and Benny got engaged in December 2024, but they haven’t started wedding planning just yet. Benny revealed on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast (July 10) that the couple has been too busy with work to sit down and figure things out.
“We’ve both been working so much,” he said. “Music videos, holidays, promo work, then she left to film Only Murders in the Building. Then I was writing another book… It’s been non-stop!”
Still, Benny added that they’re excited and might finally start planning sometime this summer. “We’ll sit down and be like, ‘Okay, what are we doing,’” he said.
A Chill Wedding, Full of Love (and Food!)
While nothing is confirmed yet, Benny hinted that the wedding will be “chill” and relaxed — much like their relationship. He even shared a sweet moment, saying that even though he doesn’t usually like staying in bed, “with Selena, I can do it all day.”
He described their perfect time together as cuddling, watching shows, and enjoying piles of food — proving that their bond is all about comfort and connection.
Food clearly plays a big role in their relationship. Benny once shared that for Valentine’s Day, he made Selena a special food-filled date night with Taco Bell, movie-style nachos, deep-fried pickles, her favourite candies, and even a bathtub full of queso for dipping!
He also advises anyone in love to learn to cook for their partner. “Even if you’re terrible at it, they’ll love the effort,” he told PEOPLE.
