Vanderpump Rules is getting ready for a fresh start with a new season, as Bravo teases the first look at Season 12. On July 25, the network dropped a short but impactful teaser on X, eight months after announcing a major shakeup in the cast.
A Fresh Start at SUR
The teaser opens with Lisa Vanderpump hanging up a “Help Wanted” sign at SUR, signaling the changes ahead. As Lisa’s voiceover plays, she says, “The faces may have changed… but my rules, they’ve stayed the same.”
The clip then transitions to the phrase, “It’s time for a shift,” hinting at the new dynamic for the upcoming season. While the exact release date has yet to be revealed, the clip confirms that the new season is “coming soon.”
The caption reads, “New shift. Same rules. #PumpRules Season 12 shakes things up soon.” This marks a significant turning point for the beloved series, which has captivated audiences for over a decade.
A New Cast and New Drama
Season 12 will introduce a completely revamped cast, following Bravo’s announcement in November that the series would be reimagined. The new cast members will be joining Vanderpump, 64, and the staff at SUR and TomTom for the season.
Although their names have not been disclosed, Bravo described them as a “close-knit SUR-verse” who are as complicatedly involved with one another as the original group.
In a statement, Lisa Vanderpump reflected on the series’ long run, saying, “The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between.”
She expressed deep gratitude for those who have shared their lives with the show and added, “In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.”
Why the Reboot?
The decision to reboot the show comes after tensions within the original cast, especially following the dramatic Season 11 reunion. A source close to the production revealed that the legacy cast learned of the reboot just one day before the news went public.
While they were “understandably upset,” the source noted that “no one was necessarily surprised,” with many feeling relief that they finally had an answer.
A second source explained that the decision was driven purely by creative reasons, noting that money wasn’t a factor in Bravo’s choice to move forward with a new group.
After a long pause in production, the network felt there was no path forward with the existing cast, as “everyone was still stuck in their feelings” after the reunion.
The Future of Vanderpump Rules
Executive producer Alex Baskin also shared his excitement about the reboot, saying, “What a thrill it is to build on the legacy of this series by doing it all over again.
With profound appreciation for the original group and their iconic run, we can’t wait for the audience to see a dynamic new group of co-workers and friends make their way through life together.”
Vanderpump Rules originally premiered in 2013, featuring stars like Kristen Doute, Scheana Shay, Jax Taylor, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney, Tom Sandoval, Stassi Schroeder, and Ariana Madix.
Over the years, the cast has changed, with new additions like Brittany Cartwright, Lala Kent, and Rachel Leviss bringing their own drama to the show.
What’s Next?
As the new season draws near, fans are left wondering what will unfold with the new cast and how the future of SUR will look without the old guard. The iconic show has always thrived on drama, and with a completely new group, Season 12 is poised to be a major shift for the series.
For those wanting to catch up on past drama, Seasons 1-11 of Vanderpump Rules are available for streaming on Peacock.
