Florida Woman Charged with Murder After Killing Boyfriend, Leaving Body to Decompose
A Florida woman, Veanitta Lenon, has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing her boyfriend, Jason Bloomfield, and leaving his body to decompose for almost a week.
The tragic incident came to light after Bloomfield’s teenage son and mother discovered his body at their home in Parrish, Florida, on November 29, 2024.
The Discovery of the Body
The events leading up to the discovery began when Bloomfield’s 15-year-old son and mother went to check on him after several days without communication. The son and his grandmother had difficulty accessing the house, as a back door had been removed from its hinges, but they eventually made their way inside.
They found Bloomfield’s body under a pile of clothes and blankets. He had been shot multiple times.
Lenon’s Deceptive Actions
After the murder, Lenon allegedly attempted to cover up her involvement by sending text messages from Bloomfield’s phone to his sister and other family members.
She reportedly fabricated an alibi, claiming that the couple had broken up and that Bloomfield was missing, despite being well aware of his death. In addition, Lenon spoke with neighbors, trying to shift blame and distract investigators.
During one of her conversations with Bloomfield’s sister, she wrote late-night messages, which raised suspicions. She claimed Bloomfield had left with another woman, his ex-girlfriend, and they were friends. Lenon’s actions included trying to portray Bloomfield’s death as a possible suicide and even attempting to fake tears when questioned by police.
Police Investigation
Authorities quickly determined Lenon was the prime suspect. Surveillance footage, witness statements, and Lenon’s inconsistent interviews helped investigators piece together what happened.
Lenon reportedly became agitated and rambling during questioning, even mentioning unrelated topics like superheroes and Johnny Cash, which struck investigators as odd behavior for someone accused of a serious crime.
On November 29, Lenon was reportedly at the scene when Bloomfield’s body was discovered. Police and family members began shouting at her, accusing her of the crime, and Lenon’s erratic behavior added to the growing evidence against her.
Financial Transactions and Facebook Posts
Authorities also revealed that after the murder, Lenon used Bloomfield’s bank account to send herself $500 via Zelle. She also made a Facebook post on December 11, 2024, in which she wrote:
“SATAN GETS BUSY BUT YOU GOTTA KNOW WHEN HE’S WORKING SO YOU CAN LET GOD HANDLE UP ON YOURE BEHALF.”
The disturbing post further confirmed the tense emotional state Lenon was in after the murder.
Lenon’s Arrest and Legal Status
Lenon has been charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, and fraudulent use of personal identification in connection with Bloomfield’s death. Despite the overwhelming evidence against her, Lenon has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Currently, Lenon is awaiting trial in Florida and has been denied bond.
Family’s Reaction
Bloomfield’s family is devastated by the loss, and the teenage son and mother who found his body are dealing with the emotional trauma caused by the gruesome discovery.
