Scheana Shay Opens Up About Exploring Her Sexuality Before Meeting Husband Brock Davies

Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay is sharing a deeply personal chapter from her life — one that unfolded just before she met her now-husband, Brock Davies.

In her new memoir My Good Side, the reality star candidly reveals her inner journey of questioning her sexuality and the brief yet meaningful connection she had with a female friend, referred to as “DD.”

A New Side of Scheana: Questioning Her Sexuality

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Shay, 40, says that before dating Davies, she experienced something new — a romantic spark with a woman. Although the relationship never turned fully romantic, it left her wondering if she might be bisexual.

“I think if it had been a few more months, maybe we would’ve taken things to another level,” Shay admits.
“We were such close friends who drunkenly made out, held hands, and went on our little dates. But then I met Brock, and there was that spark right away.”

Shay explains that their connection wasn’t just physical — it was also emotional. Yet both she and “DD” avoided having a deeper conversation about what their relationship meant.

“It was an inner battle,” she shares. “I had a rejection to saying it out loud. So again, I just kept it in and didn’t really tell anyone how I was truly feeling until writing this book.”

A Fling That Made Her Reflect

In My Good Side, Shay recounts how she met “DD” at the Stagecoach Festival in April 2019. After returning to Los Angeles, the two were seen holding hands at dinner at Craig’s in West Hollywood, not minding the paparazzi presence.

Later that night, while at TomTom, “DD” kissed Shay unexpectedly — a moment that surprised her but also made her feel something deeper.

“We would get drunk, make out, and tell people we were dating,” Shay wrote.
“It never went beyond that, but it made me ask myself a lot of questions… Was I bisexual? Was I just attracted to her?”

Shay explains that while she had been attracted to women before, this situation with “DD” stirred new feelings she hadn’t felt previously.

Moving Forward with Brock Davies

Soon after, Shay met Brock Davies, and the two quickly became serious. Shay says that once her relationship with Davies became exclusive, her connection with “DD” naturally faded.

“We began talking less and less,” she says. “We just grew apart.”

Now, with several years of marriage and a daughter — Summer, born in April 2021 — Shay says she has no regrets.

“Brock is my person,” she tells PEOPLE. “Our relationship isn’t perfect — I don’t think any marriage is — but I think he’s perfect for me.”

She calls Davies an “incredible partner” and an “amazing father”, crediting their growth as a couple to being open, supportive, and committed to overcoming the struggles of their past.

Her Message to Readers

With the release of My Good Side, Shay hopes readers take away one key message:

“Your past doesn’t define your future,” she says.
“We’re all constantly growing, learning, and becoming better versions of ourselves.”

For Shay, opening up about her sexuality was a vulnerable step — but one she felt was important to include. Her honesty adds to the growing number of public figures sharing their stories of self-discovery, especially when it comes to exploring sexual identity in their own time.

Scheana Shay’s story is a reminder that not every chapter in life has a clear ending — and that’s okay. Her brief but impactful connection with “DD” gave her new perspective on herself, while her relationship with Brock Davies brought stability, love, and family.

Through her memoir, Shay hopes to inspire others to embrace their journeys, even the uncertain or unspoken parts.
