Over 15 years after her affair with Eddie Cibrian, Scheana Shay is finally opening up about whether she still keeps in touch with him, his ex-wife Brandi Glanville, or his current wife LeAnn Rimes.
The Vanderpump Rules alum, who recently released her memoir My Good Side, reflected on her past relationship with Cibrian and how it impacted her life moving forward.
The Affair and Its Aftermath
Back in the late 2000s, Scheana unknowingly had an affair with Eddie Cibrian while he was still married to Brandi Glanville. At the time, Cibrian was also seeing his now-wife, LeAnn Rimes, though they didn’t marry until 2011. The affair became a significant tabloid story, with Cibrian eventually divorcing Glanville and marrying Rimes.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Scheana revealed that she last spoke to Brandi a few months ago. “We keep in touch,” Scheana shared. “We text from time to time, or I’ll see her at events.
I saw her at BravoCon a couple of years ago, but we keep in touch via text.” Despite the history between them, it seems that the two have managed to maintain a cordial relationship over the years.
The Situation with LeAnn and Eddie
On the other hand, Scheana’s relationship with LeAnn Rimes is not as close. “We haven’t talked in several years,” she admitted, explaining that they used to exchange texts and Twitter DMs but lost touch over time.
When asked about Eddie Cibrian, Scheana revealed that she hasn’t spoken to him since around 2009, shortly after the affair ended.
“I have not talked to him since 2008 or nine, whenever that happened. I think it was 2009,” she stated, adding that despite living in Los Angeles, a city where it’s easy to run into people, she has not crossed paths with him in over 16 years.
Scheana emphasized how long ago the affair happened, pointing out that it took place when she was much younger. “I met him in 2006, 19 years ago. People forget how long ago it was,” she said. The affair had occurred well before Vanderpump Rules was filmed, which made its aftermath even more challenging for her.
Reflections in My Good Side
In her memoir, Scheana opens up about her time with Eddie Cibrian and whether she has any regrets. “I’ve been asked many times if I regret my relationship with Eddie,” she wrote. “Honestly, it’s hard to beat yourself up about dating a married man when you didn’t know he was married. He lied to me repeatedly when I wanted nothing more than to trust him.”
However, Scheana does express regret for how her actions affected Brandi Glanville and her children, Jake and Mason. She admitted that once she found out Cibrian was married, she didn’t fully consider the emotional impact on Brandi and her kids.
“What I do feel badly about is that, after I found out, I didn’t think about the impact on Brandi and their kids,” she said. “I couldn’t see beyond my own hurt and betrayal from Eddie or conceive of how it would feel to be his wife and the mother of his kids.”
After reflecting on the situation, Scheana issued a heartfelt apology to Brandi and her children. “I’m truly sorry for the pain that Brandi and those boys suffered. No one deserves that.”
Unseen Red Flags
Scheana also shared her thoughts on how she didn’t see the signs of Eddie’s infidelity. She recalled their early relationship, where things seemed to be moving forward. “It really felt like we were building something,” she said. “Did I think it was weird that I never went to his house?
No! He lived in Calabasas, supposedly. And I certainly wasn’t making the trek to Calabasas in 2007.” She added that they weren’t exclusive at the time, which made it harder for her to see any warning signs.
