Paige Bueckers recently joked that her relationship reveal with Azzi Fudd was a complete “set up” after the news came out during an interview.
Speaking before the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend, Bueckers laughed off the situation when she was asked about confirming her relationship with Fudd, her fellow University of Connecticut alum and women’s basketball star.
The WNBA star, who currently plays for the Dallas Wings, was speaking with PEOPLE about her personal life when she mentioned the video segment for WAG Talk, a TikTok account where athletes are interviewed about their partners.
The interview, which focused on Bueckers’ “D1 girlfriend,” led to her joking response: “That was just a setup… I didn’t even mean for that to happen, and here we are.”
The Phone Case Incident
The topic of their relationship became even more public when fans noticed Fudd’s phone case, which had the words “Paige Bueckers’ Girlfriend” written on it. Bueckers laughed and said it was “kind of accidental,” adding, “Now here we are.”
Although they had not officially announced anything, she acknowledged that the situation had just unfolded, with people catching on as their relationship became more public.

During the WAG Talk interview at the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star event, Bueckers was asked how well she knew her “D1 girlfriend,” and she answered confidently by correctly answering a series of questions about Fudd’s basketball career and background.
When the interviewer asked for the “girlfriend reveal,” Bueckers smiled and said, “Azzi Fudd.”

Bueckers also shared her thoughts on navigating the public eye and social media, especially as a rookie in the WNBA. She admitted that it’s a learning curve but enjoys the balance of knowing when to engage with social media and when to step back. “It’s fun.

The two have been rumored to be in a relationship for some time, and their social media interactions have given fans plenty of clues. After the 2025 ESPYs, Bueckers shared a photo of Fudd on her Instagram Stories, complete with hot face emojis.
The two have also shown affection by sharing matching athleisure selfies, holding hands at a Wings road game, and wearing matching “A” and “P” necklaces.
