Mo'ne Davis to Try Out for Major New Women’s Pro Baseball League—Don’t Miss It!

Mo’ne Davis, the baseball prodigy who captured the hearts of fans around the world at just 13 years old, is ready for the next chapter in her sports career.

Davis, who made history in 2014 as the first girl to pitch a victory and a shutout in the Little League World Series, will try out for the Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL), set to launch in 2026.

Returning to the Diamond

Davis, now 21, will join more than 600 players vying for a spot in the WPBL during tryouts from August 22-25 in Washington, D.C. She will not only try out as a pitcher but also at second base, shortstop, and center field. The tryouts will help determine the 150 players who will be selected for the league’s inaugural draft in October.

A Historic Moment for Women in Baseball

The WPBL aims to launch with six teams in the summer of 2026, and will be the first professional women’s baseball league in the U.S. since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, which inspired the iconic film A League of Their Own, dissolved in 1954.

Davis will be joined by other trailblazers like Kelsie Whitmore, the first woman to sign a professional contract with an MLB-partnered league.

Davis’ Rise to Stardom

Davis became a household name in 2014 when she led the Taney Youth Baseball Association from Philadelphia to the Little League World Series and delivered 70 mph fastballs. Her performances made her an inspiration, not just for young girls but for baseball fans everywhere.

She even graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, had her jersey displayed in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and was named Sports Kid of the Year by Sports Illustrated Kids.

Next Steps for Mo’ne Davis

After graduating from Hampton University in 2023, Davis has remained involved in the world of baseball, providing commentary for Little League games on ESPN. She is now focused on fulfilling her dream of playing professionally in the newly forming Women’s Professional Baseball League.

With her unique blend of athleticism, experience, and passion for the game, Davis is poised to make history once again.
