Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Share the Shocking Reason Fans Find Their Show in Hospitals

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have just revealed a surprising place where many fans first discover their daytime talk show, Live with Kelly and Mark. During their appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on July 15, the couple shared a funny tidbit about their show’s unexpected reach.

Host Seth Meyers brought up an interesting point, mentioning that Ripa and Consuelos had previously said many people find out about the show when they’re hospitalized. Ripa confirmed it, saying, “These are facts.”

“I used to jokingly say it like, ‘Were you hospitalized?’ and they would go, ‘Yes! How did you…?’” Ripa laughed, noting that fans often share their story of discovering the show while recovering in hospitals.

As Ripa explained, Live with Kelly and Mark is often aired in hospitals because it’s “not anxiety-inducing” and avoids topics like politics, making it a comforting choice for patients.

Meyers humorously pointed out that the show has a “healing power” to it, which Ripa agreed with, laughing while adding, “There’s a healing power to watching mom and dad fight.”

Mark Consuelos, 54, joined in, noting that their show provides a “safe place” for them to have arguments, as the debates never get out of control, and they can argue “on TV” while still maintaining a level of respect and love.

Ripa and Consuelos, who’ve been married for 28 years, have worked together in many capacities over the years, starting with their roles in the soap opera All My Children. Ripa shared how they first met in 1995 during Consuelos’ audition, and despite a brief breakup, they eloped to Las Vegas in 1996, getting married at the Chapel of the Bells.

The couple has three children: Michael (28), Lola (24), and Joaquin (22). When Meyers asked if their children watch the show, Ripa answered no, prompting Meyers to joke, “So people like to watch their parents fight, except for your children.”

Live with Kelly and Mark airs weekday mornings, so check your local listings to catch the couple’s dynamic and often hilarious discussions.
