Gwyneth Paltrow’s Shocking Confession About Ending Her Friendship with Madonna

In a juicy revelation from the upcoming book Gwyneth: The Biography by Amy Odell, it’s claimed that Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna had a falling out after a major “breaking point” in their friendship.

The two women, who had been friends for years, first became acquainted when Madonna wrote a note to Paltrow during her high school years.

As the story goes, Gwyneth’s father, TV producer Bruce Paltrow, was concerned about Gwyneth’s smoking habit and asked a friend, director Leo Penn, to have his son, Sean Penn, ask Madonna to write a note to Gwyneth.

The note read:
“Dear Gwyneth, Just to jot down my average day…I wake up, I don’t smoke…And I go home a happy, healthy me. Love, Me, Madonna. PS: Good girls live longer.”

While that note was the beginning of their relationship, it wasn’t until later when Gwyneth and Madonna’s friendship truly blossomed. In the early 2000s, as Gwyneth was living in London with her first husband, Chris Martin, they were often spotted together, especially after Tracey Anderson workouts, sharing casual moments in workout gear.

However, their friendship took a turn as described in the new biography. According to the book, Madonna reportedly showed up unexpectedly to an island where Gwyneth and Martin were vacationing. Madonna appeared to know that Gwyneth would be there, which struck Paltrow as odd.

The situation worsened when Madonna insisted that Gwyneth and Chris join her for a big group dinner. At the dinner, Madonna allegedly “went off on her daughter, Lourdes,” which left Gwyneth and Chris visibly disgusted by her behavior.

The book states, “’I can’t be around this woman any more,’ Chris Martin told Gwyneth. ‘She’s awful.’” Gwyneth then agreed that Madonna was “toxic” and decided to end the friendship.

While neither Madonna nor Gwyneth has publicly commented on the fallout, Paltrow did credit Madonna for helping her through a difficult time in her life, specifically with her postpartum depression in 2008.

In an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Gwyneth shared that Madonna advised her to see the “bigger picture” and highlighted the importance of her children, praising Madonna’s kids for being “phenomenal, polite, sweet, kind, and conscientious.”

Gwyneth: The Biography is set to be released on July 29 and is already available for preorder at various retailers.
