Lola Tung Urges Fans to Be ‘Kind’ Ahead of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Premiere

As The Summer I Turned Pretty gears up for its third and final season on Prime Video, star Lola Tung, who plays the beloved protagonist Belly Conklin, is asking fans to approach the series with kindness.

In light of the intense fan reactions surrounding the show’s famous love triangle, the show’s official Instagram account has issued a public reminder to fans to be more mindful of their online behavior.

A Call for Kindness: Show’s Social Media Guidelines

Ahead of the season premiere on Wednesday, July 16, the official The Summer I Turned Pretty Instagram account shared a series of posts urging viewers to keep their discussions respectful.

The posts emphasized that the show’s online community should remain a “safe place,” with one of the slides reading, “Let’s keep the conversation kind this summer.”

Another slide included community guidelines that strictly prohibited any form of hate speech or bullying. The post also warned that anyone engaging in harmful behaviors such as targeting cast members or doxxing would be banned from participating in the show’s online community.

Lola Tung’s Message to Fans

In an interview with Teen Vogue on July 10, Lola Tung acknowledged the passionate attachment fans have to the show’s characters, particularly when it comes to the love triangle between Belly and the two Fisher brothers, Conrad (played by Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

Tung, 22, shared her appreciation for the fans’ investment in the story, but she also expressed concern about the intensity of some reactions. “When people have an attachment to the characters, they want to see it come together at the end,” she explained.

However, Tung also addressed the darker side of fan engagement, saying, “People get a little scary about it… Please don’t threaten to kill someone if something doesn’t go your way — I promise you, it’s not that serious.”

She further reassured fans by emphasizing the care and thoughtfulness behind the show’s direction. “Jenny [Han] is so smart and she cares so much about the story and making it the best story that it can be. It will be okay.”

The Show’s Finale: Navigating Love and Relationships

The Summer I Turned Pretty, based on Jenny Han’s beloved 2009 book series, has captivated fans with its coming-of-age storyline about Belly’s emotional journey through a complicated love triangle.

As the series enters its final season, viewers will continue to follow Belly’s relationships with Conrad and Jeremiah, two brothers whose late mother was also Belly’s mother’s best friend. The show explores not only Belly’s adolescent struggles but also the impact of family dynamics and friendships.
