In a shocking turn of events during Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour in Atlanta, thieves broke into the car of her choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer, Diandre Blue, stealing valuable items including a flash drive that contained unreleased music, future concert set lists, and more.
The Theft Incident
According to a police report obtained by PEOPLE, Grant and Blue reported the theft to the Atlanta Police Department on Tuesday, July 8.
The two had parked their Jeep Wagoneer in a garage at Krog Street Market ahead of Beyoncé’s performance at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Grant returned to the car an hour later to find the trunk window broken and two suitcases stolen.
Among the stolen items, the most concerning was a flash drive containing sensitive and important data for Beyoncé’s upcoming performance in Atlanta. The flash drive included watermarked unreleased music, footage plans for the show, as well as past and future set lists.
In addition to these files, Grant and Blue reported that other items were also taken, including clothing, designer sunglasses, laptops, and a pair of AirPods Max headphones.
Police Investigation and Efforts to Recover Stolen Items
After the theft was reported, police launched an investigation. Officers tracked the location of one of the stolen laptops and the AirPods Max, leading to a suspicious stop in the area.
The officer conducting the search noted that the AirPods were pinging in the vicinity, which led them to a silver vehicle that had been moving in the same area at the same time. However, the investigation is ongoing, and as of July 14, the suspect remains unidentified.
The Atlanta Police Department (APD) confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued for the suspect but provided no further details regarding the individual’s identity. The police department also emphasized that the information released was preliminary and could change as the investigation progresses.
Beyoncé’s Tour Continues Amidst the Drama
Despite the theft, Beyoncé and her team are continuing their Cowboy Carter tour, which has a multi-night stop in Atlanta. The final show in the city is set to take place on Monday, July 17, before the tour continues toward its final stop in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 26.
Police Advice for the Public
In response to the incident, the Atlanta Police Department urged the public to take extra precautions when leaving valuables in their cars. “We know quick stops can turn into costly mistakes,” the department’s statement read. “It only takes seconds for a thief to spot valuables and break in.
Take your bags, phone, and anything important with you every time you leave your car. Don’t give criminals an easy win.”
