Alabama Man Arrested for Two Fatal Hit-and-Run Crashes Months Apart, Suspected of DUI in Both Incidents

An Alabama man has been arrested in connection with two separate fatal hit-and-run crashes months apart, with authorities suspecting alcohol was involved in both incidents.

Antonio Tremayne Weldon Jr., 24, is facing two counts of reckless manslaughter after allegedly being involved in the deaths of a 13-year-old boy and a woman. Weldon was arrested after the March 29, 2025 fatal crash that claimed the life of Michelle Lynn Dickerson, 34, while she was riding her bicycle in Birmingham.

He was linked to another hit-and-run incident that occurred five months earlier, when Braylen Hardy, 13, was struck by a car while riding his ATV in front of his home on October 26, 2024. Hardy later died from his injuries three days after the crash.

According to Birmingham police, Weldon fled the scene after Hardy was struck, but he was arrested a few blocks away. Authorities believe Weldon was intoxicated during both fatal crashes.

The family of Braylen Hardy expressed their heartbreak, with Hardy’s uncle, Billy Fagness, describing the tragedy as “like we’re in a nightmare.”

Weldon, who was also facing other charges from a prior incident, was initially released after being interrogated following the Hardy crash but was later charged after the case was presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. He is currently being held in Jefferson County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
