Big Sean is setting the record straight after a viral theory circulated online claiming that the rapper underwent surgery to enhance his abs.
On July 7, fitness influencer Blake Sanburg (known as @thenutritionnarc) posted a video analyzing Big Sean’s physique, speculating whether the rapper had received abdominal implants or enhancement surgery.
The Viral Theory
In his video, Sanburg shared images and clips of Big Sean’s torso, highlighting his “extremely defined abs” that appeared to be “sitting on top of a bubble gut.” The influencer speculated that the rapper might have had ab etching or taken steroids.
He also mentioned that regardless of Big Sean’s efforts, the rapper has “very interesting genetics.”
The video quickly gained attention, sparking speculation online. However, Big Sean didn’t let the claims slide quietly and took to the comment section to respond directly.
Big Sean’s Response
In a series of comments, Big Sean denied the claims, humorously addressing the theory. He wrote, “Bro, unfortunately mine are real lol.
I got love for the fake [ab] community tho, to each its own, but what makes this funnier is this is the way God made me.” He also joked, saying that when he’s out of shape, he “just happen[s] to look like a chewed up tootsie roll.”
He continued, “I only have to say something cause this s— is getting way outta hand 😂.”
Direct Message to Sanburg
After Sanburg’s video spread, Big Sean reached out to him directly, sharing a message with the influencer, which Sanburg later posted in a follow-up video. In the message, Big Sean wrote, “I commented on your video, this s— is funny cause thats the way I was made.”
He went on to clarify that he simply “gained Dad weight” after becoming a father and had to “crack down on working out as I got older.”
Big Sean also emphasized, “No surgery though,” adding, “Cant believe I have to explain myself.”
Big Sean’s Changing Physique
Big Sean, 37, explained that his physique had changed after becoming a father to his son, Noah Hasani, born in November 2022. He shares his son with singer Jhené Aiko.
Reflecting on the impact of fatherhood, Big Sean said, “He’s changed me in so many ways. I’m still learning to be even more intentional with everything and just being in the moment.”
Personal Life and Growth
In addition to talking about his physical changes, Big Sean opened up in previous interviews about the challenges he and Aiko faced, including a miscarriage. In a January 2025 episode of the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, Big Sean encouraged others dealing with loss to process their grief while remaining hopeful for the future.
“To anyone who does experience such an insufferable loss: Go through it, express yourself, deal with that grief, but don’t let it consume you,” he said. “You may get blessed with a child later on. You may get blessed with a child that comes into your life a different way.”
