Florida Man Steals Tour Train on His Birthday While High on Meth

A Florida man made an unusual birthday celebration by stealing a tour train and even picking up passengers while he was allegedly high on methamphetamine. Police later discovered that the man had taken the tour train without permission on July 4 in Key West.

What Happened?

According to an arrest report, Jonathan Patrick Winslow, 57, showed up at the Conch Tour Train Depot in Key West and claimed to be a former employee. He asked an employee if he could go on a tour of the Conch Train, and the employee agreed. However, instead of just taking a tour, Winslow drove off with the train.

His joyride didn’t last long, but he managed to pick up two random passengers who didn’t seem to realize the train conductor was not authorized. Winslow eventually left the train, which was later found by the police, who used its GPS to track it.

Police Arrest Winslow

Police soon found Winslow who appeared excited and was speaking rapidly. When they told him he was being charged for stealing the Conch Train, Winslow reportedly said he had just “borrowed” the vehicle and mentioned it was his birthday.

Officers weren’t convinced by his reasoning and arrested him. During a search, they found a meth pipe on him. Winslow tried to argue, saying it was a “weed pipe,” but the police disagreed.

Charges and Bond

Winslow now faces charges of burglary, theft, and misdemeanor possession of drug equipment. He is being held in the Monroe County Jail with a $60,000 bond. His court date is set for July 17.
