Thunderstorms Set to Hit Thursday Afternoon

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, thunderstorms are expected to affect Caribou and surrounding areas, including Central Highlands, Northern Penobscot, and Washington counties, after 2 p.m. Thursday.

The primary threats include gusty winds, which could affect visibility, as well as lightning and heavy rainfall. The storms will also reduce visibility, especially in areas with patchy fog expected to develop early Friday morning.

Drivers on Route 1 and Route 11 are advised to use caution after 2 p.m. on Thursday, as the storm activity is expected to peak during the late afternoon and evening. If possible, travelers should avoid unnecessary travel during the storms.

Fourth of July Weekend: Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms

The stormy weather will carry over into Friday (July 4th), with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms expected, particularly between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
