Bhad Bhabie, the rapper known for her breakout hit “Gucci Flip Flops,” is facing a lawsuit from American Express. The credit card giant filed the lawsuit on July 2 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming Bhad Bhabie (whose real name is Danielle Bregoli) owes $674,452.40 in unpaid charges.
Alleged Breach of Credit Agreement
According to court documents, American Express alleges that Bregoli breached a credit agreement by failing to make payments on her account. The filing states that the company extended credit to Bregoli for purchases and cash advances, but she stopped making payments around December 19, 2024.
The credit agreement, which was signed on April 21, 2021, stipulated that Bregoli would repay the charges, fees, and interest either in full each month or through monthly payments.
Now, American Express claims that Bregoli owes the full balance on her account and is seeking damages for breach of contract.
A Financial Setback Amidst Success
This lawsuit comes just days after Bhad Bhabie made headlines for discussing her success on OnlyFans, a platform she joined in April 2021. In an interview with Interview Magazine, Bregoli revealed that OnlyFans had become “a good way to make a lot of money really fast.”
In July 2024, Bregoli shared her earnings from the platform, with reports claiming she grossed over $71 million, with net earnings of $57 million. A significant portion of her earnings—over $32 million—came from direct messages, with another $500,000 in tips and $24 million from subscriptions.
No Comments From Representatives
At the time of writing, neither Bhad Bhabie’s representatives nor American Express have responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.
While Bhad Bhabie’s success on platforms like OnlyFans has contributed to her financial gains, her current legal battle with American Express highlights the complexities of managing finances amidst rising fame and income. The outcome of this lawsuit could have significant implications for the rapper’s finances going forward.
