Ohio Man Throws Machete at Motorcycle, Kills Innocent Woman in Mistaken Identity Case

In a shocking case from Camden, Ohio, a man allegedly killed an innocent woman after wrongly believing that a man riding a motorcycle was his daughter’s ex-boyfriend. Police say the man threw a machete at the vehicle, fatally injuring the female passenger. The incident has left the quiet town stunned.

How the Tragedy Happened

On the evening of June 23, 2025, 41-year-old Leigha Huff was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle on Upper Somers Road in Camden. At the same time, a woman living nearby called the police to report that her ex-boyfriend was supposedly driving a motorcycle up and down the road, trying to get her attention.

The caller’s father, 59-year-old Kenneth Wayne Brabant, was outside the house during this time. When he saw a motorcycle coming down the road, he mistakenly believed the rider was his daughter’s ex-boyfriend.

The Deadly Mistake

In what appears to be a moment of anger and misunderstanding, Brabant allegedly threw a machete at the moving motorcycle. The machete struck Leigha Huff in the leg, and she immediately screamed, “Oh my god, I’m hit!” according to the man driving the motorcycle.

The driver then rushed to a nearby friend’s house to call for help, but sadly, Huff had already lost too much blood and was declared dead when emergency responders arrived.

No Connection Found

Authorities later revealed that neither Huff nor the man driving the motorcycle had any connection to Brabant or his daughter. They were completely innocent people passing by at the wrong time.

“We have not been able to confirm if the original motorcycle reported by the daughter was real or not,” said Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson. “But someone made a decision to confront whoever was on the road, and now, a life has been lost.”

Arrest and Court Appearance

Kenneth Brabant was arrested the next day and is now facing charges of murder, assault, and tampering with evidence. According to police, he initially hid the machete but later told officers where to find it.

He is being held in the Preble County Jail and has already made a court appearance, during which he said, “All I can say is I’m sorry.”

The judge reminded him not to discuss the details of the case during court.
