The Shocking 2025 NBA Draft Trades You Didn’t See Coming!

The 2025 NBA Draft kicked off in Brooklyn on Wednesday, but trades have already been making waves in the lead-up to draft night. Big moves were made before the draft, including Kevin Durant’s blockbuster trade to the Houston Rockets and several other high-profile deals.

One major trade on draft night saw the Charlotte Hornets trade Mark Williams, a center, to the Phoenix Suns.

The Boston Celtics have also been active, shipping out Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porziņģis in separate trades. Holiday heads to the Portland Trail Blazers, while Porziņģis joins Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks, saving the Celtics significant cap space.

The Durant trade heavily impacted Wednesday’s first round. The Suns acquired the No. 10 pick from the Rockets (originally belonging to Phoenix), setting the stage for more trades.

As of Wednesday morning, a total of 16 first-round picks had been swapped, and the Brooklyn Nets, also involved in the Porziņģis deal, ended up with five of the top 27 picks.

Stay up to date with all the latest trade news and deals from the 2025 NBA Draft below.
