Julie Chrisley is opening up for the first time about her emotional reaction after receiving a pardon from President Donald Trump. The Chrisley Knows Best star, 52, recently spoke about the life-changing moment during a preview for a June 28 interview on FOX News Channel’s My View with Lara Trump.
Julie’s pardon, which was granted alongside her husband Todd Chrisley, ended their sentences for bank fraud and tax evasion. Julie recalled the moment her daughter, Savannah, shared the good news, saying it left her in tears.
Julie’s Emotional Reaction to the Pardon
Julie explained that when she heard the news from Savannah, she “busted out crying.” The moment was incredibly emotional for her. “I was so nervous, I just hung up,” she added, describing how everyone around her was shocked by her reaction.
“In prison, most of the news you get is bad news,” Julie shared. “So they were like, ‘Are you okay?’ And I said, ‘I’m getting out of here! I’m getting out of here!’”
Todd’s Surprising Pardon News
Todd Chrisley, 56, shared how he learned about his own pardon in a more unexpected way. “This guy stops me and says, ‘Man, I think you just got pardoned,’” Todd recalled. At first, he didn’t believe it. But later, one of the correctional officers came to confirm, saying, “Todd, you just got pardoned.”
Todd joked about his reaction, saying, “Hell, if I’m pardoned, I’m great!” He expressed his gratitude, thanking God for guiding the people who advocated for them. “Every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and children,” he said. “And he did that, so I’m grateful.”
Returning to the Spotlight
Todd and Julie’s public return came just days after their release. Todd held a press conference on May 30, where he thanked everyone who had supported them through their legal battle.
He also mentioned Julie, who was not present because she was at home with their adopted daughter, Chloe. Todd praised Julie for being his “best friend” and the anchor through all their struggles.
Julie, who had spent two years in a Kentucky prison, was spotted running errands in Nashville on May 29, smiling and wearing her natural gray hair. She was reunited with Todd, who had been in a Florida prison.
What’s Next for the Chrisleys?
Todd and Julie will be sharing more of their story with fans soon. They’re relaunching their podcast, Chrisley Confessions, which had been on hiatus during their time in prison.
Savannah Chrisley, their daughter, confirmed the news on the June 3 episode of Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley. “I am so excited for them to have a place to share their story and be truly authentically themselves,” Savannah said.
The Chrisleys were convicted in 2022 and sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison. However, they appealed the charges, and while Todd’s appeal was upheld, Julie’s sentence was reduced after a judge ruled her original punishment was sufficient.
