Serena Williams is pushing her limits and sharing her wellness journey with fans, recently taking on the intense challenge of ultra-cold cryotherapy sessions.

On June 19, the tennis legend posted on Instagram about her experience with the icy treatment, where temperatures drop to a chilling -110°F.

“This was Day 2 of cryotherapy. What an experience! I lasted the full 3 minutes this time! 🙂‍↕️😝,” Williams, 43, shared, expressing her accomplishment after completing the full session.

For this cold therapy session, Williams wore a dark two-piece outfit that exposed her stomach and legs to the freezing temperatures while keeping her ears protected with a thick headband and her extremities covered with oversized white gloves and shin-length socks.

Cryotherapy is commonly used by athletes to help reduce muscle soreness and enhance recovery. According to Mass General Brigham, the treatment works by activating a stress response in the body, which can be intense but potentially beneficial for the nervous system.

For Williams, the second attempt was much more successful than the first. During her initial session on June 12, she humorously posted, “I was trying to make Cryotherapy, couture. 🥶 I failed.” But this time, she confidently noted, “I can feel a difference from last time.”

Williams’ progress was met with positive reactions from her fans. Tina Knowles, for instance, couldn’t help but compliment her, saying, “You look amazing that body oh my!🔥❤️.” Meanwhile, Paris Hilton expressed her admiration with simple heart and fire emojis, writing, “😍.”

Fans can expect more updates from Williams as she continues to document her wellness journey. She also recently shared that she had reached her weight-loss goal after giving birth to her second child, daughter Adira River, in August 2023.

The proud mom and wife to Alexis Ohanian, already parents to their first daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., in 2017, are embracing the joys of family life alongside their fitness endeavors.
