A Texas woman, Emily LaVelle, has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing two women at her apartment complex in Waco. LaVelle, 29, was arrested following the incident on June 7 at the Tennyson Arms apartments.
Police say she confronted a neighbor and others in the complex while allegedly wielding a knife, resulting in one woman suffering a stab wound near her collarbone.
The Stabbing Incident and LaVelle’s Remarks
According to a police affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, LaVelle was involved in an earlier physical altercation with a woman in the complex. After the first incident, police said LaVelle allegedly placed a knife in her pocket.
She later encountered the woman again, who was on her phone, possibly calling the police. This led to the second altercation, where LaVelle allegedly stabbed two women in a violent confrontation.
When police arrived, they spoke to the victims and witnesses who reported the stabbing. One woman had a serious stab wound near her throat. LaVelle fled back to her apartment after the incident and barricaded herself inside.
After her arrest, LaVelle was questioned by officers, where she allegedly claimed that she would have “killed that b—” if she had been carrying a knife.

During questioning, LaVelle stated that she was involved in a “mutual combat physical altercation” earlier that day with one of the victims.
She reportedly told police that she had put the knife in her pocket after the first fight but contradicted herself later, claiming she didn’t have a knife on her when she confronted the second woman.
When an officer asked LaVelle what was going through her mind when she saw the second victim, LaVelle allegedly responded with, “[D]o or die,” indicating she was ready to defend herself. LaVelle further explained that she would do “anything” to defend herself, adding that if she had a knife, she would have killed the woman.

LaVelle was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the stabbing incident. She was taken into custody and later posted bond on June 8. LaVelle’s defense attorney has not yet made any public statements regarding the charges. The motive for the altercations remains unclear.
