Sabrina Carpenter is no stranger to dealing with criticism, but she knows how to respond with grace and humor. On June 16, the 26-year-old singer fired back at a comment about her personality following the release of her Man’s Best Friend album cover.
The album cover, which sparked mixed reactions, shows Carpenter on her hands and knees, dressed in a short black dress and heels, with a man grabbing her by the hair.
A user on X reposted the album cover and questioned, “Does she have a personality outside of sex?” Carpenter wasn’t having it and quickly responded, “girl yes and it is goooooood.”
Man’s Best Friend Album and Its Controversial Cover
Sabrina Carpenter’s album cover for Man’s Best Friend, which she revealed on June 11, showcases her bold and provocative image. She captioned the post, “My new album, ‘Man’s Best Friend’ 🐾 is out on August 29, 2025.
I can’t wait for it to be yours x Pre-order now.” The announcement also included the lead single “Manchild,” released on June 5.
While some fans were excited for the upcoming album, the cover art left others with mixed feelings. However, Sabrina isn’t letting the criticism get to her.
In an earlier interview with Rolling Stone, Carpenter discussed the diverse reactions she received for her performance of the song “Juno” during her Short n’ Sweet tour, where she acts out sexual positions while performing the line: “Wanna try out some freaky positions? Have you ever tried this one?”
Addressing the Mixed Reactions
Carpenter acknowledged the controversy surrounding the song, explaining, “It’s always so funny to me when people complain.” She continued, “They’re like, ‘All she does is sing about this.’
But those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly, you love sex. You’re obsessed with it. It’s in my show.”
The singer went on to clarify that although some performances focus on sexual themes, her show also includes other types of songs, like ballads and introspective numbers.
“There’s so many more moments than the ‘Juno’ positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on,” Carpenter pointed out. “I can’t control that. If you come to the show, you’ll also hear the ballads, you’ll hear the more introspective numbers.”
A Dose of Humor and Irony
In a lighthearted tone, Carpenter explained that she doesn’t let the headlines or reactions bother her. “I find irony and humor in all of that, because it seems to be a recurring theme. I’m not upset about it, other than I feel mad pressure to be funny sometimes.”
Carpenter’s candid approach to handling criticism and her ability to keep the conversation humorous is part of her charm. Fans continue to support her, enjoying her music and unapologetic self-expression.
Looking Ahead to Man’s Best Friend
After the success of her previous album Short n’ Sweet, which earned her multiple Grammy Awards, Carpenter is excited for her upcoming release. Man’s Best Friend is set to drop on August 29, 2025, and fans are eager to hear more of her latest work.
