A Louisiana woman was arrested after allegedly attacking her granddaughter for stealing her methamphetamine.
Margo Lynn Pattum, 62, now faces multiple drug-related charges after police said she strangled her granddaughter and was found in possession of several narcotics and firearms.
The Alleged Attack on the Granddaughter
The Jennings Police Department responded to a call on Thursday from Pattum’s granddaughter, who reported being strangled by her grandmother.
The incident allegedly occurred after Pattum accused the girl of stealing her methamphetamine. As the investigation into the assault progressed, officers obtained a search warrant for Pattum’s home.
Discovery of Drugs and Firearms
When executing the search warrant, authorities uncovered a range of illegal substances at Pattum’s residence. This included methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and pills, along with three firearms.
One of the guns had been reported as stolen. Police also found crack cocaine on Pattum during her arrest.
Additional Criminal Behavior
The criminal activity did not stop there. As Pattum was being transported to jail, she allegedly attempted to discard another container of crack cocaine behind the transport seat in the police vehicle.
Charges and Ongoing Investigation
Pattum now faces nine charges related to drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of possessing a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. She also faces obstruction of justice charges. Pattum is being held on a $20,000 bond, and the investigation is ongoing.
This disturbing incident sheds light on the dangers of drug addiction and the extreme behavior that can arise from it.
Pattum’s violent attack on her granddaughter over a drug theft accusation is a tragic example of the consequences of substance abuse. The ongoing investigation will determine any further criminal actions related to this case.
