In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Burns shared that she would love to return to the franchise for a third film, reflecting on her fond memories from the previous two movies.

Burns, who portrayed the lovable Miss Rhode Island in the 2000 hit Miss Congeniality and its 2005 sequel, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, opened up about her experiences working on the films.
Speaking at the premiere of The Best You Can at the 2025 Tribeca Festival in New York City, Burns said, “Oh God, I would love it.
That was one of the best experiences of my life.” She emphasized how much fun she had making the films, especially her strong friendships with co-stars like Sandra Bullock and Melissa De Sousa, who played Miss New York.
The actress fondly remembered her time working alongside Sandra Bullock, describing it as a dream. “I made lifelong friends working with Sandra Bullock,” Burns added, noting that she would “jump at” the chance to return for a third Miss Congeniality film if given the opportunity.
A Lasting Friendship with Sandra Bullock
Though Burns and Bullock have kept in touch “loosely” over the years, their most recent contact was when Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar in 2010 for her role in The Blind Side. Burns recalled, “I definitely sent her a congratulations when she won her Oscar, so that was probably the last time we had close contact.”
Despite the time that has passed, the two actresses share a bond that has remained strong since their first film together.

One of the most memorable moments in Miss Congeniality is Burns’ iconic line about her ideal date: “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold.

In addition to Bacon and Sedgwick, the all-star cast includes Judd Hirsch and Brittany O’Grady. Burns expressed her excitement to work with such talented actors, saying, “I just thought it would be amazing to get to work with Kyra, and I’ve worshipped Judd Hirsch my whole life.
I grew up watching Taxi. And Kevin Bacon as well. So I just was thrilled to be a part of it.”
