A 19-year-old from Mississippi, Le’Andrew Williams, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of his mother’s boyfriend, Jimmie Lee Pierce Jr.
The tragic incident took place in May 2022, when Williams shot Pierce after discovering explicit texts between Pierce and his mother.
The Crime and Investigation
In May 2022, Williams, who was 15 years old at the time, became angry after going through his mother’s phone and finding explicit messages between her and her boyfriend, 49-year-old Jimmie Lee Pierce Jr. Upset by what he read, Williams decided to confront Pierce.
Initially, Williams planned to rob Pierce, and he enlisted the help of his cousin, Corey Hodge, and his uncle, Bonny Fields. On May 16, 2022, Williams and Hodge approached Pierce outside his apartment complex in Jackson.
They demanded his wallet, and when Pierce said, “We don’t have anything,” Williams shot him twice in the chest.
Pierce was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
Arrest and Sentencing
After the shooting, Williams, Hodge, and Fields all turned themselves in to the police. Williams and Hodge were charged with capital murder, while Fields was charged as an accessory after the fact.
Williams later pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, and he was sentenced to 35 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision.
Le’Andrew Williams now faces decades in prison for the tragic death of Jimmie Lee Pierce Jr. His actions were influenced by anger over his mother’s relationship, leading to a senseless loss of life.
