A 51-year-old woman from Bluefield, West Virginia, is facing charges after allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend during an argument over him texting other women.
The incident took place on June 3, and Badia Miller has been charged with felony malicious assault and misdemeanor domestic battery. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
What Happened on June 3?
The Bluefield Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at a home on College Avenue, where they found the victim, John Vineyard, in his living room with a significant knife wound below his chest.
Vineyard told officers that his ex-girlfriend, Badia Miller, had attacked him with a “Rambo knife” and then fled the scene in her car.
Vineyard was taken to the hospital for treatment, and police began searching for Miller. The altercation reportedly started after Miller took Vineyard’s house key and refused to give it back.
She also became enraged when she saw Vineyard texting other women. Vineyard mentioned that the argument escalated to the point where Miller was shouting so loudly that he feared his landlord would evict him.
The Stabbing Incident
Vineyard claimed that when he repeatedly asked Miller to leave, she pulled out a large “Rambo knife” and stabbed him near his sternum. The knife wound was described as a two-centimeter deep cut, about four centimeters long.
There was also a second cut beneath the first, caused by the knife being pulled out in a downward motion. The type of knife Miller allegedly used is known as a “Rambo knife,” named after the popular action movie character John Rambo, known for carrying a large hunting knife.
Miller’s Arrest and Evidence
The next day, police found Miller driving in her car on College Avenue. After pulling her over, officers searched her vehicle and discovered flip-flops with what appeared to be fresh blood on them, along with a knife matching the description given by Vineyard.
Miller also had blood on her dress. Another woman was in the car with Miller at the time of the arrest, and she was found with drug paraphernalia, leading to her arrest as well.
Miller’s Conflicting Statements
During questioning, Miller gave conflicting accounts of the events. Initially, she claimed she left before the stabbing occurred.
However, she later admitted that the argument escalated when Vineyard allegedly “got in her face,” and she used the knife in self-defense, though she couldn’t recall pulling it out of its protective cover.
Investigators noted that the knife’s sheath had a cut in it, suggesting that the stabbing might have happened while the knife was still in its cover.
Legal Consequences
Badia Miller now faces serious charges for her actions. The case highlights the dangers of domestic disputes turning violent, especially when combined with alcohol and heated arguments. As the investigation continues, Miller’s conflicting statements and the evidence gathered by police will play a key role in the legal proceedings.
