A tragic event took place in Ohio when a sheriff’s deputy was killed after responding to a domestic violence call. Deputy Daniel Sherrer, 31, was shot by a man named Brian Michael Wilson during the police visit to his home. Wilson, 53, is now facing serious charges for the death of the deputy.
Details of the Incident
The incident happened on Memorial Day when Deputy Sherrer arrived at Wilson’s house in response to reports of a domestic disturbance. According to police reports and body camera footage, Wilson was sitting on his front porch and warned the deputy not to come closer. Wilson used strong language and threats, telling Sherrer not to come near or else he would be killed.
Despite the warnings, Deputy Sherrer kept trying to talk to Wilson. Wilson then opened fire with two handguns, both of which were found at the scene. Sherrer’s body camera recorded the sounds of Wilson firing until his gun ran out of bullets.
Suspect’s Past and Statements
Neighbors told the police that Wilson had made threatening remarks earlier that night, saying he did not want others to get involved and was prepared to die if necessary. Wilson also has a criminal history dating back to the 1990s, including a previous domestic violence arrest in 2009.
During the shooting, Wilson was also shot by police and taken to the hospital in critical condition. He now faces charges of aggravated murder.
