In a tense situation at a Sunnyvale jewelry store, armed employees successfully thwarted an attempted robbery, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Robbery Attempt and Quick Response
At 3:12 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a call reporting a robbery in progress at the jewelry store located on the 1000 block of East El Camino Real.
The suspects attempted to break into the store by ramming their vehicle into the building. However, their plan quickly unraveled when the store’s armed employees confronted them.
Despite the aggressive entry attempt, the suspects fled in separate stolen vehicles when faced with resistance. Remarkably, no shots were fired, and no items were stolen. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Police Investigation and Vehicle Discovery
A short time later, law enforcement located one of the suspect vehicles, which was confirmed to be stolen, in Sunnyvale. The vehicle used to ram the store was abandoned at the scene and also determined to be stolen.
The Sunnyvale police department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Eugene Rosette at 408-730-7110.
