Kelly Clarkson had an unforgettable moment during her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Friday, July 18, when her 11-year-old daughter, River Rose, joined her on stage for a sweet duet.
The mother-daughter duo surprised the audience when River Rose took the stage at her own request, marking a heartwarming performance during Clarkson’s show.
A Special Mother-Daughter Duet
River Rose joined Clarkson for a rendition of Clarkson’s hit song, “Heartbeat Song.” Both wore matching outfits — black T-shirts with sparkly bedazzled words and pants — as they swayed and danced together while holding microphones.
Videos shared online show the two singing in sync, with Clarkson encouraging and hugging her daughter at various moments throughout the performance.
Before the performance, Clarkson told the audience how it all came about. “So my daughter, River Rose, said to me, ‘I wanna sing tonight!’” Clarkson shared. The sweet bond between mother and daughter was clear as they performed together, with River Rose holding her earpiece and fully enjoying the moment.
River Rose’s Love for “Heartbeat Song”
This wasn’t the first time Clarkson had brought River Rose onstage for a performance of “Heartbeat Song.” The two had previously sung the track together during a Las Vegas concert in August 2023. Clarkson shared that her daughter had been “jamming out to the song since she was a baby” and that River Rose loves the song so much that she wanted to sing it with her mom again.
The special performance in 2023 also featured the pair in matching dresses — Clarkson in black and River Rose in white. The close connection between them and their shared love for music is evident during these performances.

As much as Clarkson loves to share the stage with her daughter, she’s also known for incorporating her family into her shows in other ways. During a July 12 concert, Clarkson gave a shout-out to her two kids, including 9-year-old son Remington “Remy”, whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
“Y’all, I do have to say that I love that I’m probably embarrassing my kids,” Clarkson joked with the audience. “They’re like, ‘Stop talking.’ I hope y’all have fun. I am completely going to embarrass you with things that I say — you’re welcome, it builds character.”
A Successful Las Vegas Residency
Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency, which officially kicked off on July 11, has been a hit with fans, despite a slight delay in its start. The Grammy-winning artist postponed the Fourth of July start date due to vocal strain from extensive rehearsals, but she was determined not to cancel any shows.
A source told PEOPLE that Clarkson was prioritizing her vocal health to ensure she could continue performing for her fans.
In addition to her residency, Clarkson wrapped up Season 6 of The Kelly Clarkson Show in June, teasing a seventh season coming this fall.
