The WTA 500 tournament will take place from July 21 to 27 in Washington, D.C. Williams, who has received a wildcard entry, last played at the 2024 Miami Open, where she lost in the first round to Diana Shnaider in straight sets on March 19, 2024.

Williams, who competed at the DC Open in 2022, will return to the event for the first time since then. Her return has excited many tennis fans who’ve been following her long and storied career.
