Adam Levine Shocks Fans by Saying He’s Done with Tattoos: You Won’t Believe Why!

Adam Levine, the frontman of Maroon 5, has revealed that he’s done getting tattoos, admitting that the process has become too painful for him to continue.

The 46-year-old musician, known for his extensive body art, made the announcement during an interview with Today.com on July 11. While he’s still working on new music, his days of adding more ink to his body are behind him.

Levine Reflects on His Tattoo Journey

In the interview, Levine shared that his latest tattoo was a refresh of his left arm sleeve. Despite enjoying the process of getting tattoos in the past, he now finds the experience much less enjoyable.

“Getting tattoos is fun, but it hurts so badly,” Levine said. He humorously added, “I covered up my sleeve with another sleeve. Who does that? What is wrong with me? Psychotic.”

He described his recent tattoo session as particularly painful, saying, “It really hurt,” and concluded that he’s “kind of done with the pain.” Reflecting on his changing attitude, he admitted, “Now, I’ve softened. When I get a tattoo now, I’m like, ‘This hurts so badly. What’s wrong? We’re done.'”

Favorite Tattoo Revealed

When asked about his favorite tattoo, Levine said it was hard to choose just one, as he has “too many” to pick from. However, he ultimately chose his hand tattoos, which spell out “true love” across his fingers. This was surprising, as Levine had previously stated in a 2013 PEOPLE interview that his hands were off-limits for tattoos.

At that time, Levine said, “I don’t do below the waist. You can’t do the hands, that’s sacred too, that’s what you make things with, I’m tied to my hands. I just can’t do hands.” His change of heart reflects how his relationship with tattoos has evolved over the years.

Levine’s First Tattoo: A Dove for Peace

Levine also reflected on his first tattoo, a dove on his upper left bicep, which he got when he was 21. “It was five days after 9/11. I felt this need to say something with this peaceful thing on my body,” he shared. The tattoo, symbolizing peace, holds a deep personal meaning for Levine, marking a pivotal moment in his life.

New Music on the Horizon

While Levine has put a stop to his tattoo collection, his musical career is still very much alive. He and Maroon 5 are preparing to release their new album, Love Is Like, on August 15. Levine teased the album’s release earlier this year, and fans are eagerly awaiting the new music.

In addition to the album, Levine mentioned that Maroon 5 is planning a tour for the fall, further building excitement for the upcoming projects. He also shared his enthusiasm for the new music, saying, “I’m really excited about it. An album is coming over the summer, non-specifically around the summertime. And then, even more non-specifically, there is a tour coming in the fall-ish.”

While Adam Levine may be done getting tattoos, his career with Maroon 5 continues to thrive with new music on the way. Fans can look forward to his upcoming album and tour, and perhaps, in the future, to more surprises from the iconic musician.
