In a surprising move, Nicole Curtis announced that Rehab Addict would be temporarily shelved from the HGTV schedule after only two episodes of the new season aired. Curtis, 48, shared the news in a casual yet heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, July 10, explaining her decision and the reasoning behind it.
A Personal Decision for the Family
In the video accompanying her post, Curtis can be seen enjoying a boat ride, sporting sunglasses and a baseball cap. She captioned the video, “‘You look happier.’
Thanks, I moved Rehab Addict to Fall Airdates.” Curtis went on to express her gratitude to her fans for making the show the number one rated program, emphasizing that the viewership numbers were an unexpected and pleasant surprise.
“First, THANK YOU for making Rehab Addict a number one rated show, again,” she wrote. “You came out and shocked the heck out of all of us with the numbers ❤️❤️.” Curtis then assured viewers that the first two episodes, which are currently streaming, would return later, along with new episodes in the fall.
Why Shelve the Show Now?
In a follow-up part of her post, Curtis explained the decision to delay the rest of the season’s episodes until the fall. “I made the executive decision to shelf the rest of our new shows until Fall,” she wrote. “I appreciate your support and understanding for the late notice.
It’s just a lot of hours (my hours) to get a show on air and we (my family + me) thought – why are we giving up Summer when we have the ability to do this in the Fall?”
Curtis also expressed her satisfaction with the decision, sharing how it allowed her to take a step back and enjoy time with her family. “I truly, am beyond happy with this decision as I just spent the day with a phone that was dead and had no worries about it,” she added, giving her followers a glimpse of the personal freedom she gained from the decision.
A Smooth Transition for HGTV
As a result of the change, HGTV will air episodes of My Lottery Dream Home, hosted by David Bromstead, in the time slots initially reserved for Rehab Addict.
Curtis even shared a lighthearted connection with Bromstead, recalling how he had been her “pregnancy beach buddy” during the filming of Beach Flip in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
She also shut down any speculation that Bromstead had “replaced” her on the network, explaining that the programming change was entirely her decision. “So, don’t be spreading rumors that he replaced me—I chose it ❤️,” Curtis clarified.
Reflecting on Recent Setbacks
This announcement comes after a tough period for Curtis, who had recently shared with PEOPLE that she had experienced a “setback” that deeply affected her. “I had a setback in my life that just rocked me to the core,” she said in June.
“I had to make a decision right there and then like, ‘Okay, we’re going to let this affect us for a very long time, or we’re going to pick it up and go.’” The setback she described seemed to have taken a toll on her, but she has since chosen to move forward, both personally and professionally.
What’s Next for Rehab Addict?
The first two episodes of Season 9 of Rehab Addict are available for streaming on HBO Max. While fans will have to wait until fall for the next batch of episodes, Curtis’s decision to focus on her family and well-being has been well-received, and fans can expect more of her work to return later in the year.
