A 17-year-old girl in Georgia is facing murder charges for allegedly killing her mother and stepfather inside their home while her 6-year-old sister was present. The young girl reportedly found the bodies and told her older sister, who then called 911, according to police.
What Happened?
On February 20, authorities responded to a 911 call from Sarah Patrick, who informed them that her mother, Kristin Brock, 41, and stepfather, James Brock, 45, had been found dead in their Tyus, Georgia home. The 6-year-old sister found the bodies but was unaware of what happened.
Sarah Patrick reportedly made the 911 call after the little girl told her about the bodies. Patrick has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Investigation and Arrest
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation had gathered “mountains of evidence,” leading to Patrick’s arrest. James Brock, who had health issues and had undergone multiple heart surgeries, was reportedly waiting for a heart transplant at the time of his death.
Ashley Hulsey, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, expressed how tragic it was that James Brock’s life was cut short despite his many health challenges. She also emphasized the emotional toll this will have on the 6-year-old sister, who is now left without both her mother and stepfather.
Charges and Investigation
Sarah Patrick was charged as an adult and is being held for the deaths of her mother and stepfather. Authorities are still investigating if other family members helped Patrick cover up the crime.
The teen’s biological father reportedly turned her over to police after learning about the arrest warrants for the Brock killings.
“We are still working with her diligently,” Hulsey said, “and our investigators are speaking with her.”
